ManCat Monday

I've never understood why women love cats. Cats are independent, they don't listen, they don't come in when you call, they like to stay out all night, and when they're home they like to be left alone and sleep. In other words, every quality that women hate in a man, they love in a cat. - Jay Leno

We had a nice rest of the weekend. Mum did disappear later on Caturday, she got the weekly foods and got her taxes completed. Said she has to send green papers to Uncle Sam this year for a change.

Mum did work outside on Sunday, she didn't take it easy. Trying to get caught up becuz she didn't get stuff done last fall before it snowed.
Since she worked so hard she treated herself to another grilled beast meal. We got a taste again too.
This is what snow is left in the back yard, one side and then the other.
Mum was able to break apart the ice from the patio and push it out where it will get more sun and hopefully dissappear sometime today.
We even had open windows for a long time, that was so nice. Have a good week everyone.

Caturday

It's about time mum, get our Caturday report up. She ranned off to day hunt for a while first thing, then took the grass eating monster in for a tune up, then swept up the metal monster room floor. All the while we poor kitties are waiting inside for love and treats.

Ducky hanging out with some of the stuffed creatures that inhabit the guest room.
Derby napping in the sunny front window.

Hope everyone else has a good weekend.

Garden Thursday

Hello and welcome to Garden Thursday with me, Virginger!
Spring continues to slowly take over, I figured I would give you a re-cap of our icky winter. These are the o-fish-oil stats way down by the air port.

Average Temperature - since November temperatures has averaged 22.7 degrees for the 12th coldest season. Iffin you only look at December 1 to February 28 average temp was 17.2 degrees, 10th coldest. December was 5 degrees below normal; January - 8; February --9

Lowest temperature - negative 14, but we had like negative 18 one morning.

Subzero days - 28 days that were zero or below, Seventh most on record. Average is 12 days.

Snowfall - 62.6 inches so far, heck it could still snow. That is about 20 inches above normal.

Snow depth - deepest snow was 14 inches on February 18.

Days with measurable snow(at least 0.1 inch of snow) - 50, record is 52

Snow cover - streak of 92 days with at least one inch of snow on the ground. From early December and March 10. We still had more snow on the ground for a few days after this. This is only good enuf for second place, first place was 112 days back in 78-79 which mum says she amembers.

Ice cover - Loch Michigan hit 93.29% ice cover on March 8, previous record 93.1 in 1997.

The snow from earlier in the week is gone, but there is still stuff left from the winter, so no bare ground. Mum says she will have lots to do once she can work outside on the yard. Get the raking done she couldn't do because it snowed so early.

Here's wishing for a warm up and spring showing up.

Tuesday, This and That

We got a nice card from Shaggy and Scout for sending them toys and the blankie to their mum. It got cold again, so they will need that blankie.
Mum got forgetful and didn't put the soup she made Sunday into the big cold box. So over night some gremlin pushed it off the kitch-hen counter and made a mess. We had a nice time licking up the broth and eating some of the chick-hen pieces. Mum got it all picked up before she went day hunting, then when she got home she washed the floor and rugs.
Yep, we got snow on Monday night. Not much but mum said it was a really slickery drive to work but arrived slowly but safely.

ManCat Monday

To a cat,"NO!" means "Not while I'm looking."

We agree. We know many kitties are told they can't go on the counter-tops but we do. Heck, even if we stayed off of them when mum is around, we could be on them all the time she is gone day hunting or sleeping. We can do what we want.

 On the kitch-hen table.
Stove top and counter.
On the bathroom counter
On top of the tall furniture
Derby inside the cupboard with the cooking dishes.

Mum cooked outside on Caturday evening, first time this year. It was sunny but cold so she had to bundle up while she was outside.
The feast, steak, eggplant, smashed potato and salad, wine. Yes we did get some of the steak, mum wouldn't be so mean to not share. We were good and did not go on the table while she was eating.

Oh yeah, we may get more snow late on Monday. ::sigh:: Winter, please go away.

Caturday

Hey guys, we made it to Caturday! Mum had a rough week day hunting, so we have been spending time purring on her. She keeps mumbling about having to clean up messes that other people make. HAHAHA, she cleans up after us all the time, she should be used to it.

Ducky having fun playing with the three way tunnel.

Mum caught a few pictures of me going in,
Sneaking a pic through the tunnel junction opening.
Looking in from the other end of the tunnel.

Derby staring down mum from the tower, probably trying to convince her to give him treats!

We thinks spring is here. Virginger showed you lots of pictures of the snow going away and more goes away every day. So we are happy that our icky winter seems to be gone. Looking forward to more warm weather so the windows stay open longer.

We hopes everyone has a good weekend.

Garden Thursday - First Day of Spring

Hello and Welcome to our first Garden Thursday for 2014. It is I, Virginger, the lovely resident Squillion here to guide you through the garden season here.

Today, March 20, 2014 is the beginning of astronomical spring, when the sun is directly over the equator as the earth moves around the sun and the northern hemisphere tilts more to the sun. The sun hits that special spot this year at 11:57 AM Central Daylight Time or 4:57 PM GMT for those of you who play that way. You can use this converter here to figure it out for your correct spot.

While it still isn't super warm and all.  I have been outside for at least a little bit on a sunny day with mum. But first she had to find me in the metal monster room. I wasn't where she expected me to be in the warm cabinet. I was up where I could see what is going on!

Do you see me???? I am hiding in plain sight. Yep, sitting next to the baskets and roll of chick-hen netting.

Friday afternoon and below Sunday afternoon. Lots of snow went away in just these two days.
Even though on Sunday morning we did have some white flakes flying around!

Here I am on the post, you can see mum's shadow in the snow! I even went to sit on the snow, but man, that made my butt cold. I got off it and went back inside.
We do have a slight suggestion of something growing where mum put some flower bulbs out last fall after they were done with the dungeon project.

So mum went out on Wednesday to take a few more pictures of how things have changed.
The no snow zone now runs all the way from our driveway through the neighbors yard to the big pile next to their driveway.

On the other side this is getting thinned out too, lots of no snow zone.
More of the bulbs sticking out and beginning to grow. Oh happy day, we will have some flowers soon.
Happy Spring everyone.

ManCat Monday - St. Pat's Edition

You are asleep. Deep, deep asleep - and then the world caves in. The cat has leapt from the top window onto your stomach. He is saturated. He is hungry. He taps you into full wakefulness with a sodden paw "Could you open a can? - Pam Brown

Yeah, we jump on mum hungry or not!

So let us all be Irish today, Get the shamrocks going, the corned beef or whatever you want. Green beer or maybe a pint or two of mother's milk.

So O'Derby and O'Ducky hope you have a wonderful time today. Perhaps a leprechaun will bless you with a pot of gold.

Plus a picture of our favorite Irish cat, O'Skeezix the Grate. Miss you buddy.

Looking for a party, head on over to the Tabby Cat Club! We will be heading over too. See you there.

Caturday

Yay we made it to the weekend. Although we had a mum day yesterday since she took a day off from day hunting.

Marley over at Mark's Mews had it happen that when he played with the turbo track, the little ball got stuck. Well that happened to Ducky the other night too. How weird that it happened to both of us. Is it the moon just in the right spot or something?
Didn't think I could do that, did you!

Plus we think spring is really getting here, the snow is going away and we can see lots more grass area. No more dripping from the roof as all that snow is melted off as well.
Here is the back yard, the space near the fevver feeders is so much bigger and now you can begin to see the left over seeds from all winter. Mum will have lots to clean up here.
The front yard, we now have a big long space of grass in the middle of the yard, that way the snow can disappear from both ends.
The front, which mum says is furry muddy near the house. The snow which got shoveled here was as high as the railing and the little hose box was covered. Plus mum got the Christ-mouse lights taken down and put away on Friday!
Another shot of the open area, maybe we will see the four-sith-ia bush bloom soon.
Along the street, the snow has melted from the street and the big pile at the end of the driveway is now only up to mum's hip, no longer as deep has her chin.
Spring bird at the feeder a red-winged blackbird. We also had a robin, but mum didn't get his picture. She said she enjoyed hearing him sing while she took the lights down. It was also nice enough that mum could give us some open windows again.

Hey, where is a picture of us?
That's better. Happy weekend to you all.
