Garden Thursday

Hello and Welcome back to the garden. Things are looking good. Mum got all of her plants planted, including the 13 more that she got at a sale last Caturday.

The snow on the mountains is looking furry good, nice and lush. Really brightens up just outside the back door. Plus it is getting tall enuf it almost hides the water hose.
Mum finally killed something! Or rather it has died. The trumpet vine, or at least part of it died. Mum figured it would be slow to start and you can see the other part starting to grow, but this part hasn't grown at all. Plus you see the ally-ums blooming too.
Mum found a deaded sqwerls, when mum found it the flies had started to find it. Mum flipped it into the bushes and flowers. Mum said it can rot in peace.
Lots going on, the hots arrived so it was, steamy. Mum got her plants planted and some weeds pulled, plus as she was pulling a root, it broke and she landed on her backside pretty hard. So her tocks and lower back is achy, but she says she will be fine.

See you all next week. Plus mum says she has a surprize for us next week and it has wings! Stay tuned.

Caturday

HiYa, Ducky here. Happy Caturday and Happy Long weekend to my fellow Mericky cats. Mum is up way early today for some reason. She says it is cuz it is cooler out now and she can enjoy the day. She will nap later when it gets warm.
Lots of open windows now that it is nice. So I hang out on my pod and take care of bathing and napping as needed. Even though it is warm, I will still sit in mum's lap to give her loves. I loves soaking up her warms.
Plus there will be outside cooking. Mum has been doing lots of that lately. So the noms are purrty good around here these days. Steak, chick-hen, burgers and brats. NOMMY!
Mum will be off to another plant sale today. Stock up on more goodies for the garden.

Happy weekend.

Garden Thursday

Hi and welcome to Garden Thursday. The weather has been changeable. Cool and wet to warm and dry. Sort of summer like. The grass is all green and looking good, even the weeds are doing well. Mum is bummed as she has found garlic mustard in some of the flower beds. That means extra work as it is an invasive plant to get rid of.
The last few tulips are still blooming, mum counted 6 in total still blooming. She notice she didn't have as many in the back this year. Time to plant a few more bulbs this fall.
Mum went to the plant sale for her garden group last Friday. Members got to come on Friday to get first pick. Mum came home with 13 plants, mostly hostas and other purrenials. They all got planted on Tuesday.
Then mum went off to the garden storm and picked up plants to put in the boxes on the railings. Pet-unias and sweet potato vine. Last time she planted sweet potato she actually got a potato!

Mum also amembered to take pictures of the garden that she helps at. So this side you can see all of the raised beds and in each bed are various food plants. Tomatoes, carrots, beets, brussel sprouts, eggy plant, lettuce. So with seeds or plants this is all now done. They just have to monitor and keep the weeds down. However, they did notice that the buns ate the broccolli.
All of these bags are filled with garlic mustard that they pulled. The grassy area to the right was just filled with it. Four of them worked on this and got it all pulled out, or at least what they could see.

The farther end is flowers so that they attract bees and such so that things get pollinated so we get foods The ladies were working to expand the flower garden area.
Mum is pooped, she had a bizzy day on Wednesday, she even needed to use the grass eater. So when she was done she sat outside with us until it got dark. That was nice.

See you all next week.

ManCat Monday

Skipping catnaps weakens your immune system.

Amen to that says mum! She hasn't really been sick since she retired! Says she is not around people who come to work sick, plus she gets lots of rest. Both at night and naps during the day if needed. She was sure she was going to get the cold of the other human who worked the book sale with her, but she didn't. Mum was happy about that.
Mum bought a bunch more of her favorite hummer feeders. She likes to have a set out with food, then the other set inside being cleaned for another use. This was Caturday when she got them all unpacked and ready to go. She bought 4 more, even though she only puts out three at a time. A spare she says. Mum also put away the roses and her hat until next year!
It was awefully cool and cloudy most of the weekend, rainy too. So much so that mum decided she needed to make soup. Egg Drop Soup and test out if it still tastes good after freezing.  Seems there is a soup contest at the racy track later this year.
Mum saw a new birdie on Sunday. It was cloudy and all, so the colors weren't that bright. But she put it through the Merlin Bird ID and it came up with Magnolia Warbler. Just passing through on his way to Canada. Mum thinks she might have seen the female too, but not good pictures for an ID.
So everyone have a good week. Me and mum will try to stay warm.

Caturday

HiYa, Ducky here. Happy weekend. I finally got mum away from watching the royal wedding stuff. She is not quite to the actual wedding, but is fast forwarding through the BS that most of the before the ceremony stuff.

So after she is done with the watching she has to get bizzy planting outside. She went off yesterday to a plant sale and came home with a pack of plants. The peoples running the sale is the group where mum took all of her classes last fall.
Mum is not happy is that the brush is still sitting waiting to be picked up. She expected it to be gone this week, so she will be making a call on Monday. No one in our area got their brush picked up, so it is not like only us got missed.
Cool and rainy day, so I will be taking it easy. Lots of naps while mum does her thing. Guess we are about to the actual wedding. Mum wants to pay attention.
Happy Weekend!

Garden Thursday

Hello everyone, the gang is all here. Virginger, Glimmer, Trooper and Fleur. Fleur has a new spot to hang out for now. Mum has put her in the middle of the snow on the mountains. A spot where mum won't have to move her when she uses the grass eater monster.

The bleeding  heart is blooming, the top picture was taken on May 1, the picture below was taken yesterday. So you can see how fast it has grown over the last two weeks.

Above is the one lilac getting ready to bloom. Mum has another one that she put in a few years ago and she doesn't think it will bloom. Mum needs to figure out why.
The grape arbor is starting to show a bit of new leaves as well. That is good. Below is the crabby apple tree getting ready to bloom.
That is all for the week. Enjoy!

ManCat Monday

Radioactive cats have 18 half-lives.

Me and mum had a nice weekend. While it was cool outside it was warm inside as mum turned the heaty monster on on Caturday. Even with a jacket on inside she felt cold and even me sitting on her all the time didn't warm her up enuf.

Mum also went off to help sort foods on Caturday afternoon. The guys in the blue shorts picked up foods the people left outside.

These are pics of what mum did, sort the foods into the correct boxes. First step is to check if the foods are out of date. Mum said while she was there peoples found foods that outdated in 1995 and 1996. Sheesh people, if you won't eat it cuz it is old, don't expect others to either. So don't donate it.

Mum has been bizzy reading her books and also knitting and crow-shay all these little hats. Says there is a program called Purple Hats for Babies. So she is making all sorts of little hats that are purple.  Says this is to help awareness for shaken baby syndrome as peoples get frustrated when babies cry and cry and cry some more for no reason. If you know that you are less likely to do something bad to a baby.

Mum is asking if you knit or crow-shay, if you would go to the link for Purple Hats and see if there is a program near you. Or if you make a hat, you could send it to mum and she will add it to her stash to donate. Or consider donating some green papers or purple yarn for someone to make hats. Mum has enuf yarns to make lots of hats, so don't send her yarn.
Mum put her finished hats on me, I would not let her put one on my head. Even just having them on me was not something I cared for. So when she put them away, I gave her the back of disrespect.
Hope you all have a nice week.

Caturday

HiYa Ducky here. Happy Caturday. The day is starting out gray and gloomy. It got cool again outside, so much so that the house got cold and mum turned the heaty monster back on! I loves that, I can nap in my hammick and be all warms.
At least when we did have some nice days mum got the outside work done. The girls did a good job with snoopervising the work. Plus mun got the brush out for pickup this next week. The brush pile is small compared to some years.

Today, well mum says she has to go and sort foods later. Huh? Oh the letter carrier food drive is today and she helps at the food pantry to get the stuff sorted so that the cans and boxes are all in the right spots. That will take her most of the afternoon.

Everyone have a wonderful weekend. Amember tomorrow is Mom's Day. Purr on your mum's to make them happy.

Garden Thursday

Hello, and welcome back to the garden. It has continued to get greener around here and more flowers are blooming. That makes us all happy.
The hostas have begun popping up, a week ago mum could barely tell they were there.
Red and yellow tulips. So bright and cheery in the front of the house.
The sedum starting to grow as well. These always come back starting from these little rosettes.
The front flower bed, with a mix of tulips, hiya-sinths, the pee-o-knees are getting purrty high too. Mum was discussing that stuff is about 3-4 weeks later than normal with blooming and all.

Mum also worked on getting the deaded branches out of the crabby apple tree. Brush pickup is next week by the village. That means mum won't have to cart it all back up.
Mum got a picture of us, the grass is getting a bit long, can you still see us? First it isn't a good pic. She cut off  Fleur's head. Sheesh mum, do a better job on getting a pic. Plus time to get the grass eater out for the first time this year.

Love to all, see you next week.

ManCat Monday

A cat has nine lives. For three he plays, for three he strays, and for the last three he stays. - English Proverb

May 7 was Derby's Gotcha Day, he came to live with mum way back in 2005. So we will post a few pics of Derby in his honor.

Mum had a good time on Caturday with the Derby and Cinco stuff. She was bummed that one of her furiends was not there, she was getting treated at the human stabby place. Mum hasn't heard exactly what they have figured out. So the gang was shy a few people but the racy cars and the party went on. So sending lots of healing purrs to Miss Dory.

Mum was gone overnight. Part party, part racy cars. Mum said people liked her hat and it came in handy to keep the sun out of her eyes. Caturday she said was long and weird. Sunday was sublime.  She then came home to me and I sat on her! She tells me she won't be gone for overnight for at least two months. MOL, you should never go away sweetie!
 Happy week everyone.

Caturday

HiYa, Ducky here. Happy Caturday. Looking forward to a wonderful day. It is Derby Day for the horsies and Stinky Mayo Day for everyone else!
Above, me and mum checking out the new baby hawks at Cornell University. We love watching those little guys grow up to be big, fierce birds!
Mum didn't get this posted on Hug Your Cat Day. I get lots of hugs and loves every day. If all else fails I pile on and sit on mum's lap. My favorite place to be.

Roses for the horses, meow-garitas for the rest of us and the humans. Party responsibly, humans too. Mum is all set to wear her hat to her party later.
Happy weekend.
